Trappers 14, River Cats 8
Sunday April 20, 2003WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Terrmel Sledge hit a grand slam to lead the Edmonton Trappers to a 14-8 victory over the Sacramento River Cats on Sunday in Pacific Coast League action.
Sledge's third homer of the season gave the Trappers the lead for good at 5-2. It also highlighted a 20-hit attack for the Trappers, who snapped the River Cats' two-game winning streak.
Peter Bergeron went 6 for 6, including a home run. He also had three RBIs and scored four runs for the Trappers.
The River Cats finished with 12 hits in a losing cause. Dave McCarthy hit his fifth homer of the season for Sacramento and Mitch Meluskey added a three-run double.
