Dodgers reliever arrested on suspicion of DUI
Tuesday April 22, 2003GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) Dodgers relief pitcher Guillermo Mota was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the California Highway Patrol said.
Mota declined to discuss the arrest Tuesday in Cincinnati, where the Dodgers are playing the Reds.
``There's nothing to comment on,'' manager Jim Tracy said. ``It's a legal issue. Once it's taken care of, then I'll do what I have to do.''
Mota was stopped at about 2 a.m. Monday for allegedly speeding, CHP spokesman Officer Ron Burch said. Mota was arrested and taken to the Glendale police station, where he was given a breath test.
Mota was booked on a DUI charge and released Monday, Burch said.
The pitcher accompanied the Dodgers on their charter flight from Los Angeles to Cincinnati.
Mota is 1-0 with a 0.84 ERA and nine strikeouts in 10 2-3 innings through Monday.
