San Francisco 91, Loyola Marymount 73

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) San Francisco scored a season-best 91 points to beat West Coast Conference opponent Loyola Marymount 91-73 Saturday night.

San Francisco guard John Cox converted 9 of 17 attempts and scored a career-high 27 points. Forward Darrell Tucker tallied his sixth double-double of the season, scoring 25 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Guard Shamel Stallworth scored 21 points, including five 3-pointers.

Guard Keith Kincade led Loyola (7-15, 1-6 WCC) with 16 points. Charles Brown, Sherman Gay and Brandon Worthy each contributed 11.

San Francisco (9-11, 4-3 WCC) made a season-high 14 of 23 attempts from behind the 3-point arc.

Stallworth's try with 9:28 remaining widened the Dons lead to 16, 73-57.

Loyola's Gay stole the ball from guard Jason Gaines and converted a layup to narrow the deficit to 84-72 with 2:08 remaining. But the Lions were unable to get any closer. Loyola shot just 25 percent from 3-point range.

The Dons came out shooting in the opening minutes of the game. Stallworth hit four tries in the first 11 minutes of the game, during which Cox also contributed three 3-pointers. San Francisco made 8 of 12 3-point attempts.

Darrell Tucker's two free throws put the Dons up by 10, 33-23 with seven minutes remaining. Loyola narrowed the deficit, 39-38, on Wes Wardrops two free throws with 1:27 remaining. Tucker's 3-pointer at the buzzer ended first-half scoring, 44-38.
