Silver Stars 69, Sparks 52
Saturday August 09, 2003SAN ANTONIO (AP) Adrienne Goodson had 15 points as the San Antonio Silver Stars snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating the Los Angeles Sparks 69-52 Saturday night.
Marie Ferdinand added 13 points for the Silver Stars (10-19), who never trailed.
Tamecka Dixon led the Sparks (19-10) with 15 points. Jennifer Gillom added a season-high 12.
San Antonio began the second half with a 24-8 run that culminated with Jennifer Azzi's 3-pointer with 11:30 left that gave the Silver Stars a 48-24 lead, their biggest of the game.
Los Angeles missed its first 18 shots of the game, allowing the Silver Stars to build an early 18-point lead. San Antonio led 16-16 at halftime, the Sparks' franchise-low for points in an opening half.
