Friday December 06, 2002

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) The Los Angeles Lakers activated forward/center Samaki Walker from the injured list Friday and made room for him on the roster by waiving center Soumaila Samake.

Walker missed six games after straining his lower back during a 111-99 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Nov. 24. He was in uniform Friday night when the Lakers faced the Dallas Mavericks.

Walker, in his second season with the Lakers, averaged 8.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.50 blocked shots in the first 14 games of the season.

Samake, signed by the Lakers as a free agent Aug. 23, averaged 1.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 5.9 minutes while playing in 13 games.
