Saturday February 15, 2003

LOS ANGELES (AP) Nikki Blue had 13 points and UCLA held Arizona scoreless for the final 3:07 in defeating the 24th-ranked Wildcats 48-47 Friday night.

Dee-Dee Wheeler missed a shot from the top of the key in the final seconds for Arizona (16-7, 9-5 Pac-10). The buzzer sounded before either team could control the rebound.

Gennifer Arranaga and Lisa Willis each scored nine points for UCLA (13-9, 8-5). Arranaga's free throw with 1:07 left proved to be the deciding point.

Wheeler led Arizona with 16 points, 14 in the second half, while Shawntinice Polk added 13 points. Arizona led 29-25 at halftime.

The Bruins won despite conference-leading scorer Michelle Greco not scoring. The senior, who averages 20 points a game, was experiencing flu-like symptoms and missed all five of her shot attempts.
