Alabama defensive end collapses at practice
Saturday August 09, 2003TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) Alabama defensive end Antwan Odom was briefly hospitalized Saturday after collapsing at practice.
``We took him off for precautionary tests,'' said coach Mike Shula. He refused to comment further on Odom's condition.
Odom was discharged from DCH Regional Medical Center later Saturday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
One of the nation's top pass rushers last season, Odom's team-leading 10 sacks were seventh in the nation.
``When you see something like that, your heart stops for a minute,'' linebacker Cornelius Wortham said. ``But he was up talking and he seemed to be OK.''
