MORAGA, Calif. (AP) Quarterback Travis Lulay passed for a touchdown and ran for another to lead Montana State to an easy 40-0 victory on Saturday, spoiling St. Mary's homecoming celebration.
Senior runningback Bruce Molock, making his first start for the Bobcats (2-3) after transferring from Cal State Northridge last year, ran for two more touchdowns and a career high 150 yards in 21 carries. Molock scored on runs of 1 yard in the first quarter and 20 yards in the second quarter as MSU built a 23-0 halftime lead.
Lulay, a 5-10 sophomore, completed 13 of 22 passes for 187 yards as he accounted for his scores on a 2-yard run in the first quarter and a 25-yard pass to Scott Turnquist early in the third period. Safety Kane Ioane added to the Montana State scoring with a 59-yard interception return midway through the third quarter.
St. Mary's (0-5) was held to only 163 total net yards, 67 yards passing and 96 rushing. Cordell Webb, a freshman making only his second start at quarterback for the Gaels, completed 10 of 17 passes for only 47 yards and an interception, while rushing for 30 yards on 15 carries.
Runningback Clint Wilson, who was injured in the second quarter before returning in the final period, led the Gaels rushing with 34 yards rushing in nine carries.
Montana State piled up 421 yards of total offense, despite having possession of the ball for only 27:26, as compared to St. Mary's 32:34.
