NFL settles trademark suit with former Raiders lineman
Wednesday April 02, 2003OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) The NFL's marketing arm has settled a lawsuit with former Oakland Raiders offensive lineman John Vella, who had been accused of misusing the team's trademark logo in his four San Francisco Bay area stores.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said Tuesday that Vella has agreed to stop using the phrase ``Raiders Locker Room'' in its signs, advertisements and Web site. Such literature will now refer to ``John Vella's Locker Room.''
Vella, who played for the team from 1972 to 1979, declined to comment on the settlement.
