MARATHON, Fla. (AP) Bruce Kruglick and David Branch inched closer to capturing a national Super Boat International title for their class with a victory at the Marathon Super Boat Grand Prix in the Florida Keys.

Superboat Vee-class racers Kruglick and Branch, of Sarasota, drove their 41-foot boat ``Muscle'' at an average speed of 98.11 mph, the fastest of the 17-boat fleet. The 16-lap, 99.8-mile race course took racers underneath both the new and old Seven Mile bridges.

``Before we came to this race, we knew we just needed to get through the bridge first (on the first lap) to have a chance at victory,'' Kruglick said Sunday.
