Slashed cable near Palm Springs repaired in time for Super Bowl
Sunday January 26, 2003MORONGO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) Cable service for about 14,000 customers in this mountainous region was lost for nine hours Sunday after someone cut the primary fiber-optic cable in two places.
But service was restored to customers in the valley north of Palm Springs in time for the Super Bowl.
Someone who appeared to have intimate knowledge of the Adelphia system deliberately cut the primary underground cable at two locations about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, said Sheriff's Corporal Steve Spear.
The Morongo Valley area with mountains to the north and south is unable to receive regular TV signals from nearby Palm Springs.
