Police arrest San Bernardino teen brothers in father's killing

Friday August 22, 2003

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) Police on Friday arrested two teenage boys for investigation of killing their father, who was found shot and stabbed behind their home.

Eduardo Duke, 15, and David Duke Jr., 17, turned themselves in to police around 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, hours after their descriptions were widely broadcast on local radio and television stations.

The arrests came nearly a day after their father, David Duke, 44, was found dead in his back yard.

The boys alerted local media before having friends drive them to the San Bernardino police station, Lt. Mark Emoto said.

The brothers were scheduled to be transported to juvenile hall Friday evening, he said.

Duke's wife, whose name was not released, told police she heard gunshots around 9:50 p.m. Thursday and rushed outside to find her husband on the ground. She saw her sons running away, police said.

KCAL-TV reported that David Jr. had been released from juvenile hall that day.

San Bernardino is about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.
