LOS ANGELES (AP) Simba has come out roaring again in its DVD debut.
``The Lion King'' sold 3 million copies in the first two days of its new home-video release, distributor Disney said Thursday. DVDs accounted for 92 percent of sales, with VHS making up the rest.
The 1994 animated musical fell well short of the single-day sales record held by last year's ``Spider-Man,'' which sold 7 million DVD and videotape copies in its first day. But ``The Lion King'' extended its hold on the all-time No. 1 spot for home video, having previously sold 32 million VHS copies in its initial release in the mid-1990s, Disney said.
The new video release features an extended version of the film about lion cub Simba's journey from exile to his rightful throne as king of the beasts, adding a song borrowed from the stage adaptation.
