Roseanne Barr to undergo surgery next week
Thursday August 14, 2003LOS ANGELES (AP) Roseanne Barr will have a hysterectomy next week, possibly delaying the taping of her new ABC Family series, ``Domestic Goddess,'' her assistant said Thursday.
``It's not life-threatening or anything,'' Becky Pentland said. ``She's a real healthy person, so we hope she won't be down very long.''
After tests earlier this week, doctors told the actress-comedian she should undergo the operation, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Pentland said.
``Domestic Goddess,'' the cooking and lifestyle show that stars Barr, was scheduled to premier Sept. 20.
Pentland said Barr, 50, will be recovering for at least a few days after the surgery, and production may be delayed up to two weeks.
ABC Family representatives did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
The development of ``Goddess'' also has been the subject of a documentary-style series now running on ABC, ``The Real Roseanne Show,'' which has already completed production.
