1993 DeVries convicted of molesting the 8-year-old son of a woman he dated, the ninth boy he had been convicted of molesting.
1997 DeVries finishes his criminal sentence but is committed to the state maximum-security psychiatric hospital at Atascadero under the state's Sexually Violent Predator Program.
Aug. 2001 DeVries chooses to be surgically castrated.
Feb. 24, 2003 A judge approves a supervised release for DeVries in Santa Clara County, the last place he was convicted.
