KNBC weatherman Christopher Nance loses job
Tuesday December 31, 2002LOS ANGELES (AP) Christopher Nance, a weatherman at KNBC-TV since 1985, has lost his job for reasons the station refused to disclose.
Nance ``no longer performs services for KNBC,'' according to a statement read Monday by an NBC spokeswoman. ``We cannot provide any further information at this time.''
His duties will be handled on an interim basis by Danny Romero and John Stehlin.
Nance, 47, was suspended in August for what the station described as ``a personnel matter'' but was subsequently reinstated during a station investigation.
According to Nance, unfounded allegations of sexual harassment involving an intern were involved. He was ``blindsided by these accusations,'' which arose during marital difficulties that have been resolved, Nance said.
``There was nothing inappropriate about it,'' he said of his relationship with the intern. ``There was nothing physical. There was nothing sexual.''
Before joining KNBC, Nance worked as a weatherman at stations in San Francisco and Monterey.
