"It was the scariest thing I've ever done," says Abbott Dutton, news anchor on Good Day Sacramento. She shakes her head recalling her decision to leave the security of the banking industry for television reporting. "I was one of the youngest administrative officers in the industry," adds Abbott, "but I don't regret the move for one minute." And she shouldn't. Today, Abbott is a news anchor on UPN 31, KMAX's Good Day Sacramento. But her stop and start career began at San Diego State University, where Abbott's plans to produce and direct films were sidetracked by a school internship at a local TV station. "I was paired with a reporter and photographer," says Abbott, "and I quickly fell in love with news." She got her first broadcasting job in Victorville, where she was both news director and anchor. In 1994, Abbott's on-camera rapport came to the attention of UPN 31 news director and she was hired on to the UPN 31 news team. Now Abbott is part of the area's top local morning show, Good Day Sacramento. When Abbott isn't reporting, you can find her on the golf course, bike riding or keeping her cat, Charlie, out of trouble.
